İskele District
İskele District (as known after the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974), is a district of "Northern Cyprus". The district is known as Karpasia but after the Turkish invasion of 1974, the illegal "government" of the occupied part of Cyprus renamed it to "Iskele". It is divided into three sub-districts: İskele Sub-district, Mehmetçik Sub-district and Yeni Erenköy Sub-district.〔(TRNC Census 2006 ) (TRNC State Planning Organization) Retrieved 2011-05-05.〕 Its capital is Trikomo, also known by its Turkish name, İskele. The district was separated from Gazimağusa District in 1998.
